Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti · 7th CPC pay levels 6 to 12 · DA 60% from January 2026
Teachers in Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are paid on the central government pay matrix. Primary teachers (PRT) start at level 6, trained graduate teachers (TGT) and librarians at level 7, and post-graduate teachers (PGT) at level 8.

KVS TGT salary breakdown
At the first cell of level 7 (basic ₹44,900) in an X class city, gross pay is ₹91,070 a month. NPS takes 10% of basic + DA, which leaves ₹83,826 in hand.

KVS TGT salary in X, Y and Z cities

How KVS TGT salary grows
Basic pay goes up by one cell (about 3%) every year. If there is no promotion, the MACP scheme moves you to the next pay level after 10, 20 and 30 years of service. Promotions usually come sooner and pay more. The table uses today's DA of 60%; DA will keep rising and the 8th Pay Commission will revise every figure.

KVS TGT salary in the 8th Pay Commission
No fitment factor is official yet. At a factor of 2.28, the level 7 starting pay of ₹44,900 would become ₹1,02,372. DA restarts at 0% when a new pay commission begins, so the rise in take-home pay is smaller than the rise in basic pay.

Allowances and deductions
- Dearness Allowance: 60% of basic pay, revised every January and July.
- House Rent Allowance: 30%, 20% or 10% of basic pay by city class. It is not paid if you live in government accommodation, and a small licence fee is deducted instead.
- Transport Allowance, with DA on it.
- NVS teachers also get a special allowance of 10% for residential duties, and rent-free accommodation on campus where it is available (so no HRA). The figures on this page are for KVS.
- Other benefits that are not part of monthly pay: Children Education Allowance, Leave Travel Concession, medical care and paid leave.
- Deductions: 10% of basic + DA for NPS (or UPS, if you opt for it), CGEGIS, income tax, and in some states professional tax. CGHS (₹250 to ₹1,000 a month) applies only in CGHS cities and is not deducted here.
