What UPS gives
- Assured payout: 50% of the average basic pay of the last 12 months before superannuation, for 25 or more years of qualifying service. For 10 to 25 years it is proportionate.
- Minimum payout: ₹10,000 a month after at least 10 years of service.
- Family payout: 60% of the payout the employee was getting.
- Dearness Relief on all of the above, at the same rate as serving employees' DA.
- Lump sum at superannuation: one tenth of monthly emoluments (basic + DA) for every completed six months of service. It does not reduce the assured payout.
Employees contribute 10% of basic + DA, as in NPS; the government contributes 18.5%. Read UPS vs NPS: which to choose.
