Working days calculator 2027
Pick two dates in 2027. The calculator takes out Saturdays and Sundays (only Sundays on a six-day week), the gazetted holidays in DoPT's 2027 list and any leave you plan, and counts the working days left. Both dates count.
Holiday dates are from DoPT's order of 16 July 2026: see the 2027 holiday list. Offices outside Delhi also get three holidays chosen in their state; add them as leave if they fall on working days.
Fill in the form to see the result.
How the working days are counted
Every date from the first to the last is counted, both included. Then the calculator takes out:
- Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays for an office on a five-day week, which is how most central government administrative offices work, or only Sundays for a six-day week.
- Gazetted holidays on working days, from DoPT's 2027 list. A holiday on a weekend does not change the count, because that day was off anyway.
- Your own days off: casual or earned leave, or the restricted holidays you plan to take.

Before you rely on the count
Check whether the rule you are working to counts working days or calendar days, and whether your office also closes for a local holiday. Offices outside Delhi get three holidays chosen in their state. They are not in the "outside Delhi" option, so add the ones that fall on working days as leave. See the full 2027 holiday list, with long weekends.

Frequently asked questions
How many working days are there in 2027?
250 for a central government office in Delhi on a five-day week, and 299 on a six-day week. With only the 14 compulsory holidays (an office outside Delhi, before its three state holidays), a five-day week has 253.
Is Saturday a working day for central government employees?
Not for most. Central government administrative offices work Monday to Friday. Some offices, such as post offices, open six days a week; choose Monday to Saturday for them.
Are restricted holidays taken out?
No, because each employee picks their own two. Add the ones you will take in the leave box.
Can I count days in 2026 or 2028?
Not yet. The calculator covers 2027, the year of DoPT's latest holiday list. The list for a new year usually comes out in the middle of the year before.
